Security & Bodyguard licensing requirements vary from state to state. Many have adopted minimum training requirements and have specific courses that you must successfully complete along with continuing education requirements. Most have separate training and course requirements for armed guards or agents. 

Private Investigator / Detective licensing requirements vary from state to state. Presently, there are six states that have no private investigator / detective or security guard licensing requirements at all. A couple of others have localized requirements by city or county.

Some states require applicants to pass a state exam and have continuing education requirements. Others require that you have verifiable experience and also have Intern Programs, which allow you to serve as an Intern-Investigator and learn on the job. Check with the Licensing Bureau in the state you reside in to be sure of the qualifications in your jurisdiction.

Process Server licensing is governed by many jurisdictions. There are separate laws for different judicial venues. There is one set of laws that govern Federal Cases. These cases include litigation tried in U.S. District Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

Each state has its own court system, the names of which vary from state to state. Licensing for those systems generally are controlled or regulated by the state or judicial district. Some states have started licensing process servers county by county.
